CAD Models

Here is a collection of some of the CAD models I created in my module last year. This module was an introduction to CAD so the models are fairly simple. However, for the assignment, we were asked to recreate a more complex model, combining all the features we had learned over the 12 weeks of the module.

Second Year CAD Project

During semester 1 of my second year, I was tasked with picking an object I own in real life and recreating it in SoildEdge. This involved modelling 15 individual part files and creating an assembly file. As well as this, I created drawing files for each part and an exploded view of the assembly.

Solidworks CAD Assigment

Also during semester 1 of my second year, I completed some models in Solidworks. The first of these was a model of an existing product called the SeeSense bicycle light. This exercise allowed me to become familiar with the Solidworks user interface, which is quite from SolidEdge. After creating the model, I rendered some images which you can view below.

After creating the SeeSense model, the next part of the assignment was to design my own similar product, using the Solidwork skills that I had gained. I decided to create a bicycle light that slots into the end of the bike’s handlebars. The front section that stores the electronics screws off, allowing access to the battery compartment at the rear. The rear compartment features a rubber adaptor with circular elevated sections that ensures that the product is a snug fit for the handlebar.
